Kitchen Addition & Remodel

Melrose, MA

For this project we completely gutted the existing small, dark, and outdated kitchen down to the studs, opening the exterior walls to incorporate large, double hung windows to bring in natural light. The project’s architect designed a fully functional and modern L shaped kitchen, including a large island with seating for four.  This space offers top of the line appliances, reclaimed red oak flooring, custom cabinets, and trim work.

To make the space more functional we added a small addition to incorporate custom mudroom lockers and a gorgeous half bath with sloped ceiling and a chandelier.  Off of the addition we built a custom deck with mahogany decking, fir railing system, and custom lattice work.  The space also features step lighting in the risers.  Off the deck we laid a custom brick patio in herringbone pattern.

No area of this addition is wasted.  We installed a hidden garden shed on the exterior half of the foundation and on the interior we installed a custom wine cellar, using the leftover reclaimed oak flooring as a bench on the footing so homeowners can sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the space.
